SprintRay Midas | Digital Press Stereolithography for Dentistry

SprintRay Midas | Digital Press Stereolithography for Dentistry

SprintRay Midas is a dental 3D printer featuring Digital Press Stereolithography, a proprietary technology designed to simplify the printing workflow. By using a unified resin capsule instead of a traditional tank and build platform, Midas can process high-viscosity resins that were previously difficult to handle. This approach provides a cleaner experience while maintaining the speed and precision required for clinical work.

My Role | Contributions

System Architecture: Partnered with Engineering to translate mechanical, optical, and thermal requirements into manufacturable materials and forms via iterative volume studies and physical mockups.

Integrated CAD Development: Managed ID geometry within the master engineering model to preserve design intent as internal mechanical systems evolved.

Ergonomics & Refinement: Developed production-ready CAD for machined and molded parts, using functional and aesthetic prototyping to refine tactile interactions, overall appearance, including surface geometry.

Feature Ownership: Led the design of critical hardware touchpoints, including the press hoop, capsule aligner, I/O ports, and touch interface.

Stakeholder Alignment: Guided aesthetic direction and resolved functional and aesthetic issues across teams through renderings and visual communication.

Manufacturing & CMF: Managed aesthetic DFM and CMF strategy/documentation, collaborating with vendors to enhance part consistency, accuracy, and finish.

Packaging & UX: Led design of the end-to-end packaging suite—including hero packaging, protective materials, labeling, and QSGs—to ensure a seamless, intuitive unboxing experience.
