SprintRay Midas | Digital Press Stereolithography for Dentistry

SprintRay Midas | Digital Press Stereolithography for Dentistry

SprintRay Midas is a dental 3D printer featuring Digital Press Stereolithography, a proprietary technology designed to simplify the printing workflow. By using a unified resin capsule instead of a traditional tank and build platform, Midas can process high-viscosity resins that were previously difficult to handle. This approach provides a cleaner experience while maintaining the speed and precision required for clinical work.

My Role | Contributions

Vision & Architecture: Partnered with engineering to translate early product vision and mechanical POCs into manufacturable forms through configuration layout, exploratory CAD, and physical prototypes.

Integrated CAD Development: Managed ID geometry within the master engineering model, preserving design intent as functional systems evolved.

Ergonomics & Refinement: Developed production-ready CAD for machined and molded parts, utilizing functional and aesthetic prototyping to fine-tune ergonomics and surface geometry.

Feature Ownership: Led the design of hardware touchpoints, including the press hoop, capsule aligner, I/O ports, and touch interface.

Stakeholder Alignment: Aligned cross-functional teams on the design vision, resolving engineering and styling conflicts through renderings and visual communication.

Manufacturing & CMFG: Managed the aesthetic DFM and CMFG process, collaborating with and challenging vendors to improve part consistency, accuracy, and finish.

Structural Packaging & OOBE: Designed the end-to-end packaging suite—including hero packaging, protective materials, labeling, and QSGs—to deliver a clean, straightforward unboxing experience.
