Karoo is Hammerhead's flagship head unit, serving as the command center for high performance cycling. This Gen 3 evolution combines the responsiveness of a smartphone with a rugged architecture that is 30% lighter than previous models.  The 3.2-inch Gorilla Glass touchscreen is custom-treated to work in wet conditions, while tactile buttons provide reliable control while wearing gloves. With a powerful 2.0 GHz quad-core processor and multi-band GNSS, Karoo delivers 35+ hours of battery life and precise navigation. Weather-proof (IP67) and deeply integrated with the SRAM AXS ecosystem, it ensures reliable real-time data tracking and intelligent routing.

System Architecture: Partnered with engineering to define the core product layout, part count, and assembly method.

Integrated CAD Development: Developed the look and feel of device envelope / surfaces, ensuring the internal mechanical stack was housed within a brand-appropriate and evolved form.

Stakeholder Alignment: Distributed high-fidelity XR visualizations and renders across remote teams to maintain creative alignment and facilitate internal reviews and resolve functional and aesthetic issues.

Manufacturing & CMFG: Developed comprehensive CMFG strategies to define the visual identity and material selection for the next generation of Hammerhead hardware.

​ID Strategy & Mentorship: Defined the project’s foundational ID strategy by synthesizing competitor and market data into actionable design attributes. Directed asset creation and mentored junior staff to ensure alignment with the established aesthetic vision.
