Sprintray Midas : The most revolutionary 3D printing technology in dentistry

Midas uses Digital Press Stereolithography, a patent-pending printing method that replaces the resin, tank and build platform with a Resin Capsule. This advancement allows Midas to print with highly filled resins that are too viscous to use on a conventional 3D printer. The Midas Resin Capsule distills the build platform, tank, and material into a single-use item. This innovation unlocks viscosity-agnostic 3D printing while offering incredible speed, accuracy, and workflow simplicity. Every Midas Capsule is coded with its material type, shade, manufacturing information, and expiration date. When it’s time to print, simply scan the capsule using the barcode Scanner.

I helped define the product’s form and experience from concept through production. My responsibilities included: - Creating production-ready 3D CAD models that integrated mechanical, optical, and thermal systems within a compact footprint. - Prototyping and refining structural elements and component layout for efficient assembly and serviceability. - Producing highimpact product renderings for internal alignment, early marketing efforts, and external presentations. - Contributing to the CMFG strategy, aligning the product’s finish and material choices with SprintRay’s brand values and premium positioning. - Collaborating on the packaging design to support safe shipping, intuitive setup, and a premium unboxing experience.

Contributions:

System Architecture: Partnered with Engineering to translate complex mechanical, optical, and thermal requirements into a compact, production-ready form through iterative volume studies and physical mockups.

Integrated CAD Development: Managed ID geometry within the master engineering model, using a flexible workflow to accommodate supply chain unpredictability and rapid component swaps without compromising design intent.

Ergonomics & Refinement: Developed the final surfaces and refined user interactions through functional and aesthetic prototyping.

Feature Ownership: Led the design of key hardware touchpoints and functional elements, including the drawer handle, touchscreen, I/O ports, and the louvered venting system.

Stakeholder Alignment: Used continuous visualization and rendering to resolve aesthetic and functional issues, keeping stakeholders aligned without slowing technical progress.

Manufacturing & CMFG: Managed aesthetic aspects of DFM and the CMF strategy, challenging vendors to improve part consistency, dimensional accuracy, and finish.

Packaging and Unboxing: Designed the full packaging suite, including hero packaging, labeling, protective materials, and quick-start guides to ensure an intuitive unboxing experience.
